Refusing Home Visit Template Letter
Dear.....
Thank you for your offer of having a home visit on the ........, but after further consideration and after taking advice, we will be not having a home visit after all. We will instead be sending you information about the education we are providing by alternative means, as recognised in the recent DCSF 'Elective Home education, Guidelines for Local Authorities'.
We note that in case law, Lord Slade said that the Local Authority should first allow
"the parents a sufficient time to set in motion their arrangements for home education,"
(R v Gwent County Council Court of Appeal (Civil Division) 10 July 1985 JUDGEMENT BY-1: SLADE LJ) so we will instead send your our Educational Philosophy and written report by .............( date)
We request that in future all correspondence to us be in writing.
